Locals and city guests of Georgia’s capital Tbilisi are now enjoying the view of newly illuminated and specially decorated television broadcasting tower that brings fresh excitement to the city.
Last night the 194 pieces of flashlight festively lit the tower in different colours to cheer Tbilisi before the 2016 New Year comes.
The tower, that looks down over Tbilisi from the city’s highest point, was illuminated by Griven, an Italian company recognised as one of the world leading manufacturers in the architectural lighting market.
Griven is the same company that illuminated the Eiffel Tower to mark France’s presidency of the European Union (EU), also the great Pyramid of Giza, the Olympic Stadium of Baku and other international iconic buildings and constructions.
The company won Tbilisi City Hall’s tender for illuminating the Tbilisi TV tower and was given 20 days to complete the work.
The company is also obligated to provide a 10-year guarantee of its service.
The important thing is that such lightning does not exist in [other countries of] the region. The city is becoming more charming and attractive which is very important for touristic point of view. This also creates different mood to each citizen,” said Tbilisi Mayor Davit Narmania.
Before the television broadcasting tower was lit with 5,000 pieces of flashlight, which was installed in 2010.
The spokesperson from the Tbilisi City Hall explained half of the flashlights were damaged because of incorrect installation and it needed renewal.
