The United Kingdom (UK) is continuing to financially support Georgia and encouraging the nation to carry out reforms that provide its faster integration into the Euro-Atlantic space.
Today British Ambassador to Georgia Alexandra Hall Hall hosted a reception to formally announce the beginning of the new UK financial aid program - the Good Governance Fund – which would support Georgia’s ongoing reform process.
The event was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia Mikheil Janelidze, Deputy Director of the Good Governance Fund in London Jon Geddes, Georgian Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, representatives from leading civil society organisations and the international community.
British Ambassador to Georgia Alexandra Hall Hall hosted a reception to announce the new UK support for Georgia.
I am very pleased to formally launch the new Good Governance Fund in Georgia,” said Hall Hall today.
British Prime Minister David Cameron announced the start of the Good Governance Fund in March this year to support and strengthen the reform path in five Eastern Neighbourhood countries, Georgia among them,” she said.
This will be a multi-year program and for the first year we have allocated around £5 million (18 million GEL) for projects in Georgia only,” the Ambassador said.
On this note, Hall Hall said some projects were already up and running, some were in the process of being established and many more were in the pipeline.
