The National Archives of Georgia has been handed a collection of unique documents featuring the work of Georgia's first diplomats in Germany and Sweden.

The documents dated back to 1918-1921 when the Democratic Republic of Georgia opened its first diplomatic representations abroad.

The materials were kept in the archives of Germany and Sweden’s Foreign Ministries before the Georgian Foreign Ministry asked for the unique documents that "reflected the very important period of independent Georgia".

Georgia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Gigi Gigiadze said the agency would continue collecting all important diplomatic documents from the 1918-1921 time period that were currently kept abroad.
