Young Georgian chess players are successfully continuing the country’s long-rooted tradition in the intellectual game.
Aspiring chess player Nino Khomeriki was crowned the new female European youth champion after scoring top points at a tournament two days ago.
The girls’ championship took place in the small town of Porec in Croatia, where participants ranged in age from 8 to 18.
Khomeriki, 17, scored eight points out of nine on her tour, meaning she defeated all of her rivals but one.
