Georgia’s water polo team qualifies for European champs

Georgia’s national water polo team is among the 16 strongest teams of the continent who will compete at the European Water Polo Championships 2016.

The Georgian team successfully progressed through the second round of the qualification tournament in Israel, which saw the nation be allowed to participate in next year’s European Championship in Belgrade, Serbia.

In the qualification tournament Georgia gained second place in Group E after defeating Israel and Lithuania 17-6 and 18-6 respectively and ending the game in a 5-all tie with the group favourites, the Netherlands.

The European Water Polo Championship will take place in the Serbian capital city from January 10-23, 2016.
