Tickets to the much-anticipated UEFA Super Cup football game Barcelona vs Sevilla will go on sale this morning in Tbilisi.
Ticket sales will begin at 9am today but dedicated Georgian football fans have already spent more than 24 hours lined up in central Tbilisi’s Vake Park to secure their seats.
To reduce chaos surrounding box office ticket sales, groups of 50 people will be accompanied from the waiting area in Vake Park , which is located near Mikheil Meskhi Stadium, to the ticket office by police, where they can purchase a maximum of four tickets each before being asked to immediately leave the area.
The process is being organised by the country’s Interior Ministry.
Once people arrive at Vake Park they must register on a waiting list. There are 22,000 tickets available for the August 11 match.
Tickets to the Tbilisi Super Cup game were meant to be sold online but confusion surrounding ticket sales began when www.biletebi.ge, the sole ticketing website, crashed when ten thousand football fans tried accessing the site at the same time on June 22. The website has been plagued with issues since then.
Georgia’s capital city Tbilisi will host the Super Cup game on August 11.
