Adventure seekers and runners from around the globe are invited to attend the sixth Kazbegi Trail Marathon, an exciting race in the Great Caucasus Mountains.

The date of the annual run has been announced - this year's event will take place on September 5, 2015.

The marathon reaches an elevation of 2,200m above sea level and gives participants the opportunity to challenge their fitness ability while enjoying some of Georgia’s most dramatic scenery, crystal-clear air and the indescribable grandeur of the Great Caucasus Mountains.

During the race participants, either professional or amateur, will be faced with alpine slopes, ancient towers and enchanting churches.

Kazbegi is a small mountainous town in north-eastern Georgia.

This year runners will be able to choose any of four distances:

  • Full Marathon - 42km;
  • Half Marathon - 21km;
  • Fun Run - 8km;
  • Relay Race - 42 km.

Water, sports drinks and bananas will be available at each fourth kilometer of the race. Afterwards runners can get their sore muscles treated to a free massage.

The event is being organised by tourist agency Visit Georgia and hosted by Rooms Hotel Kazbegi.

"Children Leukemia Curable” is the slogan of this year's marathon, which also serves as a charity event. A portion of the registration fee will be passed on to the Parents’ House; an oncology-hematology centre in Tbilisi where sick children from Georgia’s regions are treated.

Anyone who wants to become a part of the event can download a registration form here.
