Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili revealed latest details of the New Silk Road Project at a ceremony where $10 million worth of Chinese irrigation equipment was granted to the Georgian Government.

China’s Agriculture Minister Han Changfu attended yesterday's ceremony and reiterated his country's readiness to take part in the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum, planned for October 2015.

Georgia's PM said a new stage of cooperation had begun between China and Georgia, and said the New Silk Road–Economic Belt Project will be established soon. The agreement about implementing the Silk Road project was signed last month.

"We can reduce transit duration by 15 days from China to Europe. The Silk Road forum will be held in Tbilisi in October when the country will host high-level visitors. Representatives from the United States have already confirmed their interest in the forum,” Garibashvili said.

Additionally, Georgia’s Prime Minister and the Minister of Agriculture of Chinese Republic discussed the prospects of joint investment projects in the agricultural sector.

Garibashvili also announced he would embark on an official high-level visit to China in September 2015.
