Mutual relations between Georgia and two of its European neighbours will be discussed between the countries when Georgia’s Parliament Speaker heads abroad on an official visit this week.
Speaker David Usupashvili will visit Romania today, February 10, and Hungary on February 12.
Bilateral relations between the countries on political and economic levels as well as Georgia’s aspiration to enter the European Union and NATO will be the main topics discussed during Usupashvili’s official visit to Romania and Hungary.
During his visit to Romania, Usupashvili will meet with the Speaker of the Romanian Senate, Speaker of Chamber of MPs, the Vice-Premier and the country’s Foreign Minister. Other meetings are scheduled with the Senate Committee Chairs and Georgia-Romania Friendship Group members.
Furthermore, Usupashvili will participate in a public discussion titled "From Vilnius to Riga”. He will also take part in an interview with the Speaker of the Senate that will be broadcast on Romanian television.
Within his visit to Hungary, Usupashvili is scheduled to meet the President of Hungary, the State Minister in Foreign Relations, the Defence Minister, the Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament and the Chair of the Foreign Committee.
Following this, Usupashvili is expected to visit the Central European University to meet Georgian students and deliver a public lecture. A meeting with local media is also scheduled.
Usupashvili’s official duties are expected to end on February 14.
