Georgians might no longer get their fingers inked when voting.

Members of the inter-fractional group working on election issues are set to discuss whether to stop using electoral ink.

Chairman of the inter-factional group Zviad Dzidzigurisaid said the ruling majority believed using electoral stain did not make any difference and nothing would change if it was no longer used.

However, he said that this decision could not be made without opposition’s consent.

Dzidziguri claimed he would ask the Justice Ministry to present an electoral list.

"When we see what is being done in regard to making the electoral lists biometric, it will be interesting to see what our oppositional colleagues will say. Will they still see the need to use electoral ink as a protective gear at the Self-Government elections or not,” he asked.

If the opposition agreed to remove the ink, the procedure of inking voters’ fingers will be skipped at the election law.
