Sweden has ratified the Georgia-European Union (EU) Association Agreement (AA).
The vast majority of members of Swedish Parliament (Riksdag) voted to ratify the AA deals with Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova, stated the press centre of Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The decision was adopted unanimously with 249 votes.
Intrastate ratification procedures will be completed immediately after the Riksdag sends the document to executive authorities.
Sweden's Eastern Partnership (EaP) Ambassador Martin Hagstrom announced the news on his Twitter account last night.
#Sweden's Riksdag has now ratified the #EU Association Agreements with #Georgia, #Moldova and #Ukraine. Strong support for the European path

He said: "Sweden's Riksdag has now ratified the EU Association Agreements with Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. Strong support for the European path.”
Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs noted seven EU member states had ratified AA deals between Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine with the EU.
The AA deals were signed by Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova and EU representatives in Brussels on June 27.
EU association deals need to be ratified by all 28 EU member countries before they can be fully implemented. The European Parliament said it would ratify the document in December.
