Georgian singer performs leading role in US opera

One of Georgia’s most talented opera singers is shining on the international stage.
Nino Machaidze featured in the season premiere performance of Los Angeles Opera, the fourth largest opera company in the United States. The opera company launched its season on Saturday night at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion with a performance of Verdi’s La Traviata.
It was Georgian soprano’s debut as Violetta – the leading role of the opera.
Machaidze made her LA Opera debut in 2009 and has since performed numerous roles including Adina in L’Elisir d’Amore in 2009, Fiorilla in The Turkin Italy in 2011 and as Juliette in Romeo et Juliette.
In her time with the LA Opera, Machaidze has cemented herself as one of the company’s leading ladies.
LA Opera will host performances of La Traviata until September 28.
