Georgian Dream candidates are leading in all but one election precinct, preliminary results from yesterday’s repeat vote for the 2014 Municipal Elections show.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia has begun to count the votes collected in yesterday’s re-vote.
In 13 of the 14 election precincts where re-votes were held, preliminary results showed Georgian Dream candidates were ahead of other candidates, the CEC said.
At a polling station in Khoni, the candidate representing oppositional political party United National Movement (UNM) received most of the votes. Everywhere else, ruling Georgian Dream candidates ranked first, CEC preliminary results revealed.
Khoni, a district in western Georgia, was also the place where the highest voter turnout was reported by the CEC.
The initial election was held on June 15 but a revote was held on June 29 in 14 polling stations in nine districts across Georgia because of unlawful activity on voting day.
The CEC said just over 36 percent of eligible voters (5,112) took part in the repeat vote. Voters were most active at Khoni (76.7%), Tkibuli (47.5%) and Zugdidi (46.1%) election precincts.
