Fencing: Tbilisi hosts European Youth Championship

A total of 198 participants from 28 European countries have registered for the event.

Aspiring athletes from all over Europe have gathered in Tbilisi to fight for the title of the best fencer in the continent.

Georgia’s capital city is hosting the seventh European Fencing Championship with 35 in women epee and 29 in men sabre from June 24 to June 28. The competition has an age cap of 23 years.

A total of 198 participants from 28 European countries have registered for this event, about 20 less than last year in Torun, Poland, but 20 more than in 2011 in Kazan, Russia.

"The organising Federation, Georgia, has provided excellent conditions for the fencers, with a total of 19 new equipped fencing strips,” the European Fencing Confederation said.

All the key figures of European fencing, including the Confederation Presidents, are in Tbilisi to attend the prestigious event.
