The United National Movement has confirmed the letter to French authorities to release Georgias ex-Defence Minister is authentic.

There was nothing scandalous in this letter and it was an "ordinary warranty statement, said United National Movement (UNM) members.

UNM representative Levan Bejashvili confirmed the letter, in which former ruling party members asked French authorities to release Davit Kezerashvili, was authentic.

"This is an ordinary warranty letter that we are unfortunately obliged to send numerously in courts, Bejashvili said.

"Members of Parliament address judicial authorities to refrain from the use of detention and extradition, one of the reasons being the political prosecution towards Kezerashvili. The fact that David Kezerashvili was one of the most active members of the UNM is not a secret, therefore addressing the French court officials with a warranty shouldnt have been a surprise, he said.

Twenty seven members of UNM signed the letter, which named Kezerashvili as the main source of the partys finances.
