Georgians living in Turkey are celebrating Georgian Independence Day in a special event with music and song.
It is the second time Georgia diaspora have held this event on Independence Day, which is organized by the Georgian Society of Marble Regions.
The festive celebration, named Georgian Celebration, is being held in Turkey’s Sakaria region from 11am until 7pm today. The outdoor festival will see Georgian’s gather to listen to concerts of Georgian music ensembles.
Two vocal groups from the Georgian Art House in Istanbul, the Georgian-Caucasian folk ensemble Kapdagi, Georgian dance troupes and the Laz group Shurimshine are scheduled to perform during the celebration.
The Georgian Ambassador in Turkey Irakli Koplatadze is set to attend the celebration with his wife.
Organizers said Professor of Georgian State University Rozeta Gujejiani, the director of the Georgian National Center of Manuscripts Buba Kudava, the Georgian State Library representative Kaki Kenchoshvili and Georgians from all parts of Turkey will also participate in the special Independence Day celebration.
