Offender uses public transport to flee robbery

A mid-city robbery in Tbilisi ended in bizarre circumstances today – with the offender fleeing the scene using public transport.
Police are still hunting for the man who robbed a loan company and fled the scene.
In the centre of Tbilisi earlier today, a man entered Smart Finances, a microfinance organization, threatened staff he was armed with a hand grenade and took off with €6,000 (about 14,400 GEL).
The offender ran from the building and caught a number 49 "marshutka” (minibus) and fled the area.
The offender has not been found but police located the minibus he used and questioned the driver about the wanted passenger.
CCTV footage was gathered from a nearby building and given to police in an attempt to identify and capture the offender.
Staff at the loan company were not harmed in the incident.
Police have detained two people for robbing Europebet gambling facility and taking $64,000.
Georgian law enforcers have detained a man who damaged the door of one of the branches of the Bank of Georgia in Tbilisi in an attempt to steal money from a cashier booth.
A currency exchange booth was robbed by a man at the crossing of Gorgiladze and Melikishili streets in Batumi last evening.
