Natia Turnava, the Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, on Thursday met with Athanasios Orphanides, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus and professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, to discuss the NBG’s monetary policy strategy and current macroeconomic trends in the country.
Orphanides highlighted the “best international practices” for improving monetary policy, and shared his insights on future plans of the Bank, drawing on examples from different countries, the NBG said.
The meeting also involved Ekaterine Mikabadze, the Vice-Governor of the NBG, Shalva Mkhatrishvili, the Head of its Macroeconomics and Statistics Department, and Giorgi Edilashvili, the Head of the International Relations Department.
