“Positive” dynamics of relations between Georgia and the Holy See, the significance of recent collaborative projects, and prospects for deepening the “fruitful” cooperation were discussed on Monday in a meeting between the Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili and Archbishop Ante Jozic, the Apostolic Nuncio of the Catholic Church governing body to the country.

The meeting focused on “key” issues relating to the partnership, including challenges facing Georgia, the Georgian foreign office said.

The officials also discussed the country’s European integration process, highlighting the importance of steps that facilitate it.

Both sides expressed their “readiness” to collaborate further for the purpose, the body added.

The Minister extended her gratitude to Jozic for supporting Georgia's “foreign policy priorities”, particularly highlighting the Vatican's “significant role” in consolidating the international community’s stance on Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The discussions also focused on ongoing developments in Georgia, noting that the Georgian Government “places great importance on its European integration agenda, and remains steadfastly committed to pursuing this course”.
