Maka Botchorishvili, the ruling Georgian Dream party’s candidate for the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Georgia, on Thursday highlighted her office's focus on “peaceful restoration” of the country’s territorial integrity and “strengthening of its sovereignty”.

During a vote of confidence for the new Government of the country following last month’s general elections, the official vowed she would “ensure stability and security” of the country while advancing its Euro-Atlantic integration and deepening relationships with international partners.

Only through a firm, pragmatic and result-oriented policy will it be possible to achieve the goals defined by Georgia’s Constitution”, Botchorishvili stressed.

The candidate also added that a “particular importance” would be attached to “maintaining and strengthening high-level attention to issues related to the peaceful resolution of the Russia-Georgia conflict on the international agenda”.

Botchorishvili claimed she would devote “special attention” to Georgia's “active participation” in the work of international organisations, implementation of the country's “national interests”, and contribution to efforts against “challenges facing the international community”.

She also said efforts to promote Georgia as a “country with an ancient civilisation, rich history and culture on international level” would continue.
