Tinatin Rukhadze, the ruling Georgian Dream’s candidate for the Minister of Culture and Sports of the country, on Wednesday highlighted recent achievements in the sectors, as well as the Ministry’s future plans and priorities, in comments to the Parliament ahead of her assumption of the office following the parliamentary elections held in the country last month.
In her remarks at a joint meeting of parliamentary committees, Rukhadze announced plans for a legislative change to split the current Ministry into two separate entities, following an initiative by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and the Government team.
Rukhadze highlighted recent projects implemented in sports and culture, while also pointing out the challenges facing the sectors.
Our doors will be open to any person working in the field, any citizen. I will listen to everyone, but I will make a decision only taking into account the interests of our country and the field. I will stand by each person who will contribute to the protection and development of Georgian culture with their work”, she said in reference to the sector she will take up following the split of the office.
I think Georgian culture and sports are higher than any person's personal sympathies or antipathies and political views - protecting the cultural traditions of our country is a much greater responsibility. This is my position, and with this principle in mind, I intend to tackle the responsibility that the team has offered me”, she added.
The official also addressed ongoing cooperation with the Cartu Charity Foundation, thanking the organisation for its support in implementing “programmes of distinguished figures in the field and hundreds of infrastructure projects”.
