TripAdvisor names Gudauri among 5 underrated European ski towns to visit this winter

TripAdvisor, an online travel platform, has ranked Georgia’s ski resort of Gudauri among the top five underrated ski towns in Europe to visit this winter.

Yolanda Evans, the author of the article who visited the country as part of the Georgian National Tourism Administration’s press tour, recommends the resort as the best option for staying on a budget.

The article explains travelers can arrange private transfers to the destination, located just two hours from the capital city of Tbilisi, for about $60 or opt for an economical marshrutka minivan service for just over $3.50.

Gudauri Ski Resort is a budget-friendly trip, with ski passes running about $9 a day. Ski rentals are less than $20. If you are a more experienced skier, do not miss the weekend night skiing”, writes Evans.

In addition to skiing, the article highlights various off-slope activities available in Gudauri for those interested in exploring. These include a jeep tour along the Georgian Military Road, where participants can visit historical landmarks such as the Ananuri Fortress and the Gergeti Trinity Church. For adventure enthusiasts, paragliding is an option, with most tours starting at around $100 and providing keepsake photos and videos of the experience.
