Georgia’s Black Sea city of Batumi is hosting a rural tourism festival Gandagana from Friday to Saturday, the regional Adjara Tourism Department said.
The festival, traditionally organised on decorated Europe Square, showcases the culture, traditions and culinary delights of Adjara, offering visitors the opportunity to explore flavours of various municipalities of the region without leaving the city, the body added.
The event also features sales and exhibitions of handicrafts of around 200 local and other regions entrepreneurs, with special food corners arranged with traditional dishes from all five municipalities of Adjara, where master classes and culinary competitions are being demonstrated with the participation of invited culinary colleges and chefs.
In addition to the culinary and craft offerings, the festival also includes performances by musical bands and local folklore groups.
Gandagana festival has been held since 2015 to promote Adjara villages and encourage tourism in rural areas.
