Alexander Khvtisiashvili, the Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister, on Friday highlighted the “historic friendship” and “growing cooperation” between Georgia and China at the meeting with Ding Yuan, the General Manager of the Georgian office of the largest Chinese airline Air China, the Ministry said.
The Deputy Minister welcomed China’s decision to launch direct flights between the two countries and stressed the importance of “such flights” both in terms of tourism development and deepening ties between the nations.
The Air China representative noted the company had decided to launch direct flights between Tbilisi and Ürümqi after an “in-depth study” in this respect, adding direct flights between the capitals of the two countries were scheduled from the next year.
The Ministry added the sides had also discussed ways to promote and raise awareness of Georgia in China to increase tourist flow in the country.
