Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Saturday highlighted the “fruitful work” of Giorgi Amilakhvari, the country’s Minister of Education and Science, upon his resignation from the position.
“I would like to thank Giorgi Amilakhvari for his fruitful work in the position of Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia. During his tenure in office, the Ministry implemented many important changes. His resignation is a significant loss for the Georgian Government and the entire ruling team”, the PM pointed out.
Kobakhidze also added this decision of the outgoing Minister was “regrettable”, but they respected it, and wished Amilakhvari further “success” in the private sector, where he had previously worked before beginning his political activities.
Earlier today, Amilakhvari announced that he was leaving the position of Minister, saying he would continue his work in the private sector.
Giorgi Amilakhvari was appointed as the Education Minister in March of last year, before which he had held the position of of the Chair of the Education and Science Committee of the Georgian Parliament.
