Georgian customs officers seized ₾41,998 ($15,401) in undeclared gold items at the Sarpi customs checkpoint on the country's south-western border with Turkey, the Revenue Service said on Thursday.
The Service said “large amounts” of gold jewellery items weighing in at 326,55 grams had been seized during physical and luggage searches of foreign and Georgian citizens at the checkpoint.
Case materials for the offence have been sent to the Investigation Service of the Georgian Finance Ministry, the body added.
