Zhou Qian, the Chinese Ambassador to Georgia, on Thursday formally handed over a note on visa-free travel to Hong Kong for Georgian citizens commencing on Monday to Alexander Khvtisiashvili, the Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister.
The decision will enable Georgian nationals to travel and stay in Hong Kong for 30 consecutive days, the Georgian foreign office said.
The officials discussed matters on the agenda of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting focused on the opportunities created by the visa-free travel deal, including development of tourism, people-to-people contacts, business ties and trade and economic relations.
Georgian citizens have been able to travel to China without visas since May 28. With its status as the special administrative region, Hong Kong has an independent immigration and visa policy.
