The existing cooperation between Georgia and the United Kingdom and prospects for strengthening parliamentary ties were discussed on Wednesday between Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the country’s Parliament, and Chris Allan, the Director of Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the UK.
Samkharadze briefed the visiting British official about Georgia’s foreign policy and the process of integration into the European Union, as well as the current situation in the country’s Russian-occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia), domestic political situation and pre-election developments.
At the meeting, the sides also reviewed the regional security environment and existing challenges, the Parliament press office said.
