David Bakradze, Georgia’s Ambassador to the United Nations, on Monday said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze would inform world leaders about his country’s “progress in peace, stability, and economic development” during his address at the General Debate of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly on Wednesday in New York.

Bakradze announced the PM would make his first speech at the Summit of the Future - a gathering of world leaders to discuss ways for global security - as part of his visit later on Monday, while also meeting with the UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

He added a “number of high-level events” were planned as part of the international occasion, in which the PM had been scheduled to participate and meet with several world leaders.

The diplomat stressed the key topics of the discussions would include peace and security in the South Caucasus region and the wider world, as well as Georgia’s reforms.

One of the most important achievements Georgia has demonstrated in recent years is its economic development and contributions to peace and security in the region. The discussions will cover current regional events, Georgia's progress, and reforms significant to many countries", Bakradze added.

The General Debate will open on Tuesday and continue through Saturday, before official conclusion on September 30.

The theme for the General Debate of the 79th session is "Leaving no one behind: acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development and human dignity for present and future generations".
