Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday claimed the country’s territorial integrity could be restored either through reconciliation with Abkhaz and Ossetian communities or through war, and accused those allegedly opposing the former to be “entering the war scenario”.
The PM further stressed reconciliation was possible “only on the basis of mutual forgiveness”.
The crime these people committed in August 2008 was treacherous. Everyone knows very well what they have done”, Kobakhidze said in reference to the former United National Movement Government and its alleged role in the conflict.
“Anyone who opposes reconciliation automatically enters the war [scenario]. They represent the war party. We certainly have other agendas, and the reconciliation can only happen on the basis of mutual forgiveness”, he continued.
The Government head claimed his conclusion was an “axiomatic truth”, and further alleged “only forces based on lies and violence” could “challenge it”.
