A performance involving Georgian and Italian musical artists on Monday closed this year’s edition of the Night Serenades International Music Festival in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi.

Bandoneonist Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi and conductor, pianist and composer Beatrice Venezi took to the stage in a show that followed performances in the central-western resort town of Borjomi and in the country’s western Black Sea city of Batumi.

Ambassador Massimiliano D'Antuono commented on this year’s festival by noting Italy was a “leading country not only because of its rich art and cultural heritage but also due to the influential figures in the cultural sphere who have significantly contributed to shaping its global image”.

Supported by the Embassy, the festival also featured the Georgian Philharmonic Orchestra, young Georgian pianist Sandro Nebieridze in a programme including works by Italian composers Giacomo Puccini and Amilcare Ponchielli, as well as Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff.
