Georgian customs officers seized ₾93,598 ($34,686) in undeclared gold items at the Sarpi customs checkpoint on Georgia's south-western border with Turkey, the Revenue Service said on Friday.
The Service said “large amounts” of gold jewellery items - weighing 733 grams in total - were seized during physical and luggage searches of a Georgian citizen at the checkpoint.
Case materials for the offence were sent to the Investigation Service of the Georgian Finance Ministry, the body noted.
