Nicholas Cendrowicz, the Head of Cooperation at the European Union Delegation to Georgia, and John A. Pennell, the United States Agency for International Development Mission Director to the country, on Friday visited the eastern region of Kakheti to highlight the impact of collaborative development projects involving their bodies.

During their visit, officials from the EU Delegation and the USAID engaged with a variety of initiatives focused on education, social and civic issues, as well as economic growth and job creation, the Delegation said.

The officials underscored the role of grassroots involvement and met with civil society representatives and local civic leaders, emphasising the importance of delivering assistance to the most vulnerable residents, especially in the face of “increasing acts of harassment in the operational environment”, the body added.

The EU remains deeply committed to supporting the people of Georgia, where our partnerships with local communities in all the regions of the country are making a real difference. This joint visit to Kakheti offers a first-hand view of the outcomes of our work, ensuring that the projects we support are both sustainable and impactful for Georgian citizens in these regions”, Cendrowicz said.

In his turn, Pennell expressed pleasure in witnessing how USAID and EU programmes were “positively impacting” local partners across Kakheti, and reiterated the organisation’s dedication to working alongside locals to build a “stable democracy” and a “stronger economy”.
