Seven Georgian companies have participated in Riga Food, an international food industry fair in Latvia, with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Rural Development Agency, the Ministry said on Thursday.
Achinebuli, Geonaturals, Aqua Geo, Brothers Khutsishvili, Ruispiri-Ikalto cooperative, Vinagora and Kula presented wine, natural juices, and various types of canned food at the fair, the body added.
Davit Tsitlidze, the Director of the Rural Development Agency, emphasised the importance of supporting Georgian products in “strategic markets”, particularly the European Union.
Participation in international exhibitions significantly helps Georgian companies to increase their export opportunities”, he added.
Irakli Kurashvili, the Georgian Ambassador to Latvia, said the country’s participation in the fair was “very important” due to the “increasing interest” in Georgian products in Latvia, especially after the country received the candidacy for EU membership last year.
The Ambassador also noted a visit of Latvian authorities to the Georgian stand as a “sign of Latvia's continued interest” in the country.
This year's Riga Food exhibition featured participants from 30 countries and over 400 local and international companies operating in the agricultural sector.
