Georgian police arrest 18-year-old for sexual crimes against minor

An 18-year-old has been arrested by the Georgian law enforcement in Tbilisi for invasion of privacy, extortion, and sexual crimes against a minor, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on Thursday.

The suspect coerced the victim into sending personal photos and videos via social media, which were then used for blackmail and extortion, the body said. 

The individual also threatened the minor with potential violence and committed “other acts of a sexual nature”, the Ministry noted. 

The charges carry a penalty of up to 15 years in prison.
