Georgia's Central Election Commission is holding mock elections at 598 electoral precincts across the country, including regions with substantial ethnic minority populations, as part of its public awareness campaign ahead of the parliamentary vote next month.

Natia Ioseliani, the Commission's Spokesperson, on Tuesday said voters would be introduced to verification and vote counting devices during the sessions and added officials would explain the registration process to those interested.

They will also demonstrate voting procedures, including making test markings at registrars desks, casting their vote in secret voting booths, placing ballots in a envelopes for secrecy, and finally inserting ballots into vote counting boxes”, Ioseliani said.

The Commission said nearly 90 percent of the voters taking part in the elections would do so using the recently introduced electronic voting technology.
