Giorgi Mamardashvili, a goalkeeper of the Georgian national football team and Spanish football club Valencia, who recently signed on with Liverpool Football Club, had been nominated for the 2024 Yashin Trophy, an association football award presented by French magazine France Football to the best performing goalkeeper.
Mamardashvili has been recognised for his fine performances for club and country, starring for Georgia as they reached the last 16 of Euro 2024.
The list of nominees for the 2024 Yashin Trophy also includes Diogo Costa (Porto), Gianluigi Donnarumma (Paris Saint-Germain), Gregor Kobel (Borussia Dortmund), Andriy Lunin (Real Madrid), Mike Maignan (Milan), Emiliano Martínez (Aston Villa), Unai Simón (Athletic Bilbao), Yann Sommer (Inter Milan) ans Ronwen Williams (Mamelodi Sundowns).
Previous winners of the award include Thibaut Courtois and Emiliano Martínez.
This year's ceremony will take place in Paris on October 28.
The Georgian goalkeeper is set to move to Liverpool from Valencia ahead of the 2025-26 season after an agreement for his transfer with the Spanish club was reached last week.
