Georgian wheelchair fencer Nina Tibilashvili on Tuesday claimed a bronze medal in the Women's Sabre Category A at the ongoing Summer Paralympic Games in Paris.
Tibilashvili defeated Brianna Vide of France with a score of 15:11 to earn the medal, after her win against Yu Chui Yee of China 15:4 in the quarterfinals and a 6:15 loss to China’s Haiyan Gu in the semifinals. She also defeated Ukraine’s Nataliia Morkvych in repechage.
The Georgian is a vice-champion of the Tokyo Paralympic Games in 2020.
Georgian athletes have won two other medals at the Games, with taekwondo wrestler Ana Japaridze winning a bronze and shot putter Giga Ochkhikidze claiming gold by setting a new world record with a throw of 9.66 metres.
The tournament is scheduled to run until September 8.
