Maia Omiadze, the Head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration, on Friday said the country would host “high-ranking” visitors at its first celebration of World Tourism Day on September 27.
Omiadze said ministers, deputies, representatives of public and private sectors of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation member states would visit the country alongside representatives of international tourism, marketing companies, airline market and international journalists.
The participants will be hosted at the event that is organised by the GNTA under the auspices of the UNWTO.
We are positioning Georgia as a destination for business tourism. Hosting such an event at a high level will highlight the promotion of Georgia, attract more tourists and will once again put the international media spotlight”, Omiadze added.
The event will host discussion panels on addressing global tourism development trends and the significance of peace for the industry's growth.
The decision to grant the country the hosting right of the date was unanimously approved by 38 members of the European Commission of the WTO in spring of 2023.
The Organisation has marked the annual date since 1979.
