The Black Sea Arena, a venue in Georgia's seaside town of Shekvetili, on Saturday hosted the Georgian National Singing and Dancing Ensemble Erisioni as part of the Starring Georgia series, a program of performance events aimed at promoting the country's potential in tourism, economy, and culture.
Erisioni, established in 1885 with the aim of preserving and showcasing Georgian folk traditions, gained international recognition for its performances, which drew from Georgia’s rich history of music and dance.
At the Black Sea Arena, the ensemble presented a two-hour show Georgian Treasure, which earlier this year had been performed by Erisioni in 12 cities of four countries within its European tour, introducing the country’s culture and traditions to foreign audiences and taking them on a journey across various regions and eras in Georgia’s history with their artistry.
The Starring Georgia series was launched last year and hosted Bruno Mars, Imagine Dragons, The Killers, and other performers in the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi and in Shekvetili. Jungle, OneRepublic, Scorpions, Massive Attack were among other headliners in this year’s series.
