Georgian, Slovak officials discuss joint projects, cooperation

The joint projects and future cooperation between Georgia and Slovakia were discussed on Saturday by the country’s Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze and the visiting officials, Branislav Ondruš, the European Parliament member and the State Secretary of the Slovak Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and the Family, and Michal Stuška, the Vice-President of the European Affairs Committee of the Slovak Parliament and the President of Slovakia-Georgia friendship group.

At the meeting, the sides highlighted the “fruitful cooperation” between the countries within the Twinning project “Improving safe and healthy working environments in Georgia in line with EU standards and international best practices”, the Ministry of Health said.

The conversation also touched on the reforms implemented over the past years in labour inspection and their “successful outcomes”, with Sarjveladze noting that the body planned to increase the effectiveness of its activities to improve the protection of labour rights in Georgia.

Ondruš, who is on his visit to the country within the Twinning project as its head, expressed his full support for Georgia's integration into the European Union, the Ministry added.

The meeting was also attended by Beka Peradze, the head of the Labour Inspection Office of the Health Ministry.
