Georgia’s integration into the European Union, the reforms carried out by the country and the achieved progress were discussed on Wednesday by Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the European Integration Committee of the Georgian Parliament and the visiting delegation, Branislav Ondruš, the European Parliament member and the State Secretary at the Slovak Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and the Family and Michal Stuška, the Vice-President of the European Affairs Committee of the Slovak Parliament and the President of Slovakia-Georgia friendship group.
At the meeting, Botchorishvili highlighted the geopolitical importance of the relationship with the EU and the need for cooperation in various fields, the EU Integration Committee said.
Ondruš emphasized the country's implemented labour safety reform and highlighted its progress.
The Georgian Government and public servants do not see rapprochement with the European Union as a formal obligation. You sincerely believe in it and consider it a way to improve the quality of life”, he pointed out.
The Slovak lawmakers, who are on the visit to the country within the Twinning project “improving safe and healthy working environments in Georgia in line with EU standards and international best practices”, expressed “clear support” for Georgia's integration into the EU and agreed on future cooperation within the European Parliament, as well as other formats, the Committee added.
