The Emergency Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has purchased six high-speed rescue boats to increase the effectiveness of rescue operations, the Ministry said on Saturday.

Teimuraz Mghebrishvili, the head of the Emergency Management Service, Tornike Rijvadze, the Chair of Georgia’s western regional Government of Adjara, and Batumi Mayor Archil Chikovani inspected the lifeboats in the Black Sea city of Batumi.

The Emergency Service said the new modern lifeboats were equipped with water bottom scanning devices, were “effective” for rescue and search operations both in the sea and river and would be distributed along the Black Sea coastline.

Last July, the Ministry also purchased four high-speed rescue boats.
