PM announces $18,568 prize to "all members" of Georgian Olympic team

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said “all members” of the Georgian Olympic team who participated at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, regardless of whether they won a medal, would receive a reward of ₾50,000 ($18,568) for their contributions to the overall success.

Speaking at the welcoming ceremony for the Georgian Olympians at the Palace of State Ceremonies in Tbilisi, Kobakhidze said “coaches, medical staff and other personnel” would also receive increased bonuses.

We know how important it is to encourage and stand by each other. This was the spirit of our Olympic team, which we all saw, encouraging each other, supporting each other. Therefore, the contribution of all 28 athletes to the overall victory is exceptional. Success is much easier with such teammates”, he said.

The Prime Minister noted with prizes received at sports arenas, the state award had a “special value”, adding champions would receive the Saint George's Order of Victory while the prize-winners - the Order of Honour.
