Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday highlighted the country’s “liberal” economic policy and tax regime, which he said created a ”favourable environment” for investments.

Our country is a kind of island of peace in a very difficult region. We maintain peace, we maintain stability, and of course, this is also one of the factors that makes our country attractive for investors”, Kobakhidze, who leads the ruling Georgian Dream party's electoral office, told a press briefing at the office of the party.

The Prime Minister expressed the Government’s commitment to further enhancing the country’s economic policy.

We have achieved a high rate of economic growth, with the average growth over the last three years being 9.7 percent. Georgia has seen a nine percent economic growth in the first two quarters of this year, which is the highest rate in both the wider region and Europe”, he said.

Kobakhidze said the Government had a desire to “elevate investment inflows”, and would do “everything” to make the country’s economic policy “even more effective”.
