Germany’s Deutsche Welle outlet has promoted Georgia’s Black Sea region of Adjara in an article highlighting its sporting and cultural events and variety of marine and mountain tourism attractions in the regional capital Batumi, the Adjara Tourism Department said on Thursday.

The article said Batumi was “naturally suited for water sports”, such as SUP surfing, jet skiing and rafting, with well-equipped beaches, while also noting the city’s cycling infrastructure.

The piece also emphasised “diverse landscapes” - including mountains, forests and national parks - offering hiking and trekking opportunities.

[Batumi’s] unique combination of natural beauty, modern infrastructure, and rich cultural heritage provides a strong foundation for continued growth. By capitalising on its strengths and addressing existing challenges, Batumi has the potential to become a leading sports tourism destination in the region”, the piece said.

The outlet noted a “diverse range of sports activities, state-of-the-art facilities and vibrant events calendar” had made the city an “attractive destination” for sports enthusiasts.
