A total of 2,200 students have graduated from the Army Camp, a project of Georgia's Defence and Education ministries aimed at encouraging “healthy lifestyle and correct values” in Georgia’s youth, with a closing ceremony celebrating their achievements with certificates and gift sets, the body said on Wednesday.
The second stream of the Camp was hosted in three locations - Academy of Sergeants in Kojori near the capital city of Tbilisi, Sachkhere Mountain Training School in the western Imereti region and the initial combat training centre in the southern city of Akhalkalaki.
The students received theoretical and practical training in basic military disciplines under the guidance of sergeants, the Ministry said.
Additionally, they had the opportunity of interacting with military historians and clergy. The Camp also provided performances of historical themes by the Patriarchate [of the Orthodox Christian Church]”, the body added.
The closing ceremony was attended by officials from the two ministries that have been implementing the project since last year.
Speaking at the event, Grigol Giorgadze, the Deputy Defence Minister and Nodar Papukashvili, the Deputy Education Minister, emphasised the role of young individuals in “the nation’s development, the value of education and the nurturing of patriotic spirit”.
