The Service Agency of Georgia on Wednesday said it had begun issuing a new international driving licence in accordance with the Geneva Convention on Road Traffic, an international treaty promoting the development and safety of traffic.

Licences issued under the 1949 Convention will be valid for one year, while licences based on the 1958 Vienna Convention, also issued by the body, have a validity of three years.

Both licences are based on the national driving licence and recognised in respective member states of the conventions.

Individuals interested in obtaining the licences are expected to submit their identity documents and national driving licence to the Agency.
