Georgian PM, US officials discuss partnership

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and the visiting United States Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Congressman Mike Turner on Saturday discussed the strategic partnership between the two countries and the existing challenges in bilateral relations.

The head of the Government highlighted the importance of restarting and improving the cooperation and reaffirmed Georgia’s readiness in this respect, the Government Administration said.

“I reiterated Georgia’s readiness to restart and reload our relations and cooperation in order to strengthen bilateral ties and promote greater development, prosperity, peace, and security in the region and beyond”, Kobakhidze said in his social post.

 

The PM noted Georgia remained a “reliable ally” of the US, and expressed hope that bilateral relations between the states would return to the “positive dynamics of development”.

The meeting was also attended by Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, Robin Dunnigan, the US Ambassador to the country, and Levan Zhorzholiani, the head of the Georgian Government Administration.
