The National Food Agency of Georgia on Thursday said its employees had uncovered violations in 168 samples of food and drinking water out of 1,600 taken for inspection between April and June.

The business operators have been fined for the violations and prevented from selling related products, it added.

The body also detected brucellosis bacterial infection in three cases out of 63 samples of raw milk, while vegetable fat content was found in three samples of cheese out of more than 90 samples of milk and dairy products.

Laboratory research also identified incomplete information on labels indicating allergens on alcoholic beverages, with two producers fined.

No violations of lead, genetically modified organisms, calcium content, histamine, listeria and pesticides residue regulations were detected during lab testing of food, with no donkey or horse meat discovered during either.

The Agency has taken 3,000 samples of food and drinking water so far in 2024, with over 6,000 planned to be taken by the end of the year.
